Wildfires Gut Down Forests

Oklahoma wildfires have caused havoc in just two days. Officials hope that Saturday rains would douse the flames, aiding in rescue work. Oklahoma Governor has declared an emergency for 31 counties. This move will enable the authorities to seek federal assistance. City Fire Marshall, Jerry Lojka has stated that one of the fires seemed to be set intentionally. Some homes were reported burnt by the fast-moving fire. A journalist, Mr.Matt Quinn and his wife, Cathy Quinn, were engulfed in the flames and perished. The couple’s son survived with second and third degree burns and was hospitalized. As per Texas Forest officials, about 145,000 acres were burnt in the fire and more than 115 structures were destroyed.
