Obama’s Turkey visit has brought into focus the different challenges confronting the American nation with respect to the Muslim world. The foremost of them is Iraq. Although Obama has promised pull –out from Iraq, it still remains a grave threat. The other major concern is Afghanistan. It is in the US interest that the Afghan soil be rid of militants. Pakistan’s role assumes importance, especially in relation to Afghanistan. Iran is the other concern. With its intentions to acquire nuclear weapons, it has alarmed the Obama administration. Turkey, the moderate voice of Islam holds a prominent place in US agenda as a strong partner. Plaestine is in the limelight as it is the focal point of Islamic concerns.
