Abduction Of The Ship

Somali Pirates, who hijacked the Maersk Alabama and abducted its Captain, have warned US authorities against any rescue attempt. Captain Richard Philips has been held hostage in a lifeboat by the pirates. The ship was carrying UN aid for African refugees. The pirates are demanding a huge amount as ransom. US Navy forces have arrived in this Somali coastal region in order to secure the Captain’s release. This has infuriated the pirates who have threatened deadly consequences if the US Navy undertakes any rescue action. Captain Philips made a futile escape attempt and was recaptured by the Pirates. Reports say that Somali elders are willing to negotiate for the American’s release.
